Page Views: in the thousands. Unique Visitors: In the thousands. Pretty funny Stats for a website that nobody reads... hee hee hee Anyways, just wanted to drop in here to tell you about the Black Fag photos being posted on the Pictures page (click here to see them) and that I did a page for Dick Falcon on the Downloads page. It has them doing their version of Code Blue live @ the LVCS last Friday with plenty of audience sing along. Click here to check that out, with the cool snazzy little MP3 player I did the page with. I also put the Tag Board back up, after Xtal asked me where it was at earlier. I was kind of on the fence about it, but since more than a few people asked for it, I figured what the hey and just put it back up there. Let the Drama and the Stupiedity begin! LOL I'm glad a lot of people were as happy as I was about Wasted Space closing. It was long over due.

Every picture tells a story, don't it? Reviewing all the snap shots I took Fri. of the Black Fag gig had me in stitches, because not one of the photos are clear - they're all blurry, fuzzy and out of focus. That's because I was having too much FUN! Jumping around, headbanging, yelling and screaming along to everything coming through the PA was just too much for me to do AND take pictures at the same time, but I know that Senor Jesse The Super High Tech Photographer got some AMAZING shots (as usual) of Black Fag in action and all I can say is Wowsers. My Blue Moon infused brain remembers them being most excellent, to say the least. Black Fag were sooooooooooo fucking good. Was that DH Peligro on drums for them? I swear to Gawd I think it was. hahaha Whoever it was, his drumming was Top Notch, and definitely put the band over the top with his playing of the songs in a most proper manner. The chick bass player was sick. Cute too. The guitar player was OK, making up for his few mistakes with over the top enthusiasm. It's hard to rock out when you're a big guy wearing a sundress. Believe me I know. Liberace Morris was in fab-u-lous form that evening, looking splendid and orally riffing on anything and everything within his view, and giving it all back as good as he got it, like when he said 'Hey Dick Falcon - This is how it's done', and then the band launched into Jealous Again, which Dick Falcon had played earlier. I'm not sorry to say that Black Fag does it better... heh heh heh. There's just something about hearing classic Black Flag tunes played in a most disturbing homosexual way that just gets me each and every time. I cannot stress enough how much fun this gig was. I saw so many people there that I hadn't seen in years. I mean, the Airbag crew was in attendance, and those guys never come out to ANYTHING en masse, unless it's something really uber-geeky cool, so it was good seeing them all again after all these years. Lots of good friends, both old and new, all the bands (except Left Standing) sounded great, and my recording of 1/2 Ast came out SUH-WEET!! What's with all those new songs they played? When's that new album coming out, dammit? hahahaha Oh what a night! Thanks to all of you for hanging out with me. Drunken silly pictures will be forthcoming.
All that jumping around @ Black Fag had me in traction the next day, and that's partly why I missed Ainjil's little shindig happening @ LVCS (Sorry). I think she's mad at me and I don't blame her. Again, sorry. I heard it was fun though, if that means anything. Anyways, I've got lots of work to catch up on, so I'm gonna hit the ground running. Look for lots of stuff to be added and go live this week. I posted the photos of The Beat @ The Crown Theater (click here to see them), as well as the photos of Dick Falcon @ the LVCS (click here to see those). Anyone know who that guy in the wheelchair was? He was a cool guy. I talked to him for a bit earlier @ the bar. if you see him tell him I says What's Up! :-) Glad to hear all the positive feedback from everyone about the new look for the website. It is very much appreciated. This is the calm before the storm, as the Shakedown is coming up this weekend. The New Bomb Turks and Tex And The Horseheads are NOT playing, but that's OK. The line up of bands that are still playing kills. This shits gonna be Epic people. You do not wanna miss out on this. If you're in any way, shape or form supporting or participating in that Vegas Rocks Best Of Awards Show, then you are truly, truly, a lame ass. Pay To Play awards shows? Gimme a fucking break. Making the bands buy tickets to an awards show that they're supposedly nominated in is just beyond pathetic. The 2 idiots responsible for that ghey ass lame magazine should just go fuck themselves in the ass while lying to each other about how they used to be cool back in the 1980's. Fucking assholes. What do they know about the Punk Scene here in Vegas, and why do you bands who are nominated in any category give a shit about what that magazine thinks of you. Why would you seek approval from the audience of ghey ass poseurs who read and support that magazine? Weak guys. Really, totally, weaksauce. If only that magazine would close, like Wasted Space just announced they are going to, then the Scene here would be a better place to play and support. Maybe. Anyways, everything's updated. Lots of new old stuff added. Browse around, comment, look, read, listen. Enjoy! It was all worth it! hahahaha After all the BS with the Hosting company, my Servers, and anyone else who thought they had an idea about A-Records and CNAME bullshit, the website is finally up, active, and available for whatever purpose it serves, besides self ego gratification, of course. ;-) WE DO IT BECAUSE WE ARE COMPELLED, PEOPLE!! There's no other reason, and it's the best reason that there is to do it. Yeah. So anyways, it's gonna be a busy weekend, and I just wanted to jump in here and remind all 3 of you who read this website about this: and this..., of course, is going to be fucking AMAZING!! hahahahaha Make sure to get there early to check out the opening bands. They, of course, are all a bunch of very well behaved, non-alcohol abusing Gentlemen, well acquainted with the rules of Proper Behavior and Social Etiquette. And then, the next day, if you're not in jail for a DUI (like my poor friend Alex was recently) from the previous nights festivities, then get yer ass back to the LVCS to see this - Attendance is Mandatory. There's gonna be artwork for sale and prints of some very cool stuff being sold, so if you're looking to make your bat cave a little bit spookier, then you might wanna bring a few extra dollars to purchase a few bits of Horror and Fear to hang up on your walls. And make sure you stick around, because not only do you have the almighty Pigasus playing the after party with their tough-as-nails wounded band members, but you also have Jack Grisham And The West Coast Dukes, who are gonna be playing a bunch of T.S.O.L. stuff, of course, but also some Joykiller material too! Suh-weeeet! If he plays Love You More Dead and Nobody's Here To Stay, I'd be a very happy camper. And then on Sunday, I recover. And by that I mean, I'm gonna be at band practice, playing drums for like 5 hours straight. Yeah. Like I said, it's gonna be a pretty fun filled weekend, a minor precursor to the liver testing limits of next weekends Las Vegas Shakedown, happening @ the LVCS and the Beauty bar, both venues within stumbling distance of each other. Yeah, I'm digging this new website thing. It's like, it's fun again. Weird. Anyways, hope to see some of you out and about and making the Downtown scene fun again. Come out and dance in the flames of the world burning down all around us. Beats sitting at home and watching it on your TV, that's for sure.
The beauty of re-publishing everything to these new servers is re-reading some of the earlier stuff and going, WTF was I thinking? LOL It's also a fun trip down memory lane filled with good times and good friends, some of them still with us, and some of them not. It's funny how Life takes us in the directions it does. When I read those early Idle Gossip postings and Show Reviews that I did, I utterly failed at transcribing what a great feeling it all was, hanging out with your friends, doing stuff together, the camaraderie, the fun times, all of that. I wish I would of written more. I wish I would of went into great detail about everything I saw, was involved with, whatever. Failed opportunities. Whatever. All the early Idle Gossip postings are up. Just go under the Archives heading down and to the left of this posting and click on a month / year and voila! You're magically taken to that page! Isn't technology wonderful? Read them if you are so inclined. The first Show Review I ever did for this website was for the Dirty Babies / The Loud Pipes / Hank Musgrove & The Mother Fucking Maniacs / Back And To The Left @ The Skillet Cafe, and you can click here to read that one. There's nothing written about the Loud Pipes in it, because I wasn't yet comfortable giving comment on our performances. Boy, did that quickly change. :-) The next 2 Show Reviews happened back to back on my Birthday weekend, and those were the Circle Jerks / G.B.H. / Toxic Narcotic / The Daycare Swindlers @ The Huntridge Theater gig (which you can read by clicking here) and the Agent Orange / Ill Repute / Hollywood Hate / The Bad Samaritans / Lust / Thunderfist @ The Cooler Lounge gig, which might have been for an early incantation of Punk Rock Bowling, but I'm not sure. Click here to read that one. They're short, nothing like the Raga's I post now. ;-) Last but not least, the Show Review of the Hank Musgrove & The Mother Fucking Maniacs / In Control / Panda Blaster / P.S.T. @ The Hammer House gig, which you can read by clicking here. Ahhhh memories, you gotta love them. I'm also finding and re-formatting all sorts of old pictures, some of which I found on the Internet, because I lost the originals years and years ago! Working with the new website format is just a dream to post photos with. You can add captions to them as well, which I find really neat. Read my smart alack remarks while browsing the pictures! LOL First ones to get the new treatment were the Pictures of Ainjil's Birthday Party @ Last Chance Tattoo. Click here to check them out. Anything involving Booze, Cake and Silly String is something I have to be a part of! LOL More photos will be given the treatment soon. I'm jazzed on doing stuff for the website again. :-) I got this from Jason of the Mapes, who posted it on his Facebook page. As if you needed more of a reason to attend First Friday, right? LOL If you're going you might wanna check this out. Free beer tasting! 25 cent comic books! Guess where I'll be before the Black Fag gig? LOL The Mapes are playing Boomer's the same night, and I wish I could be there, but... well, you know. :-) It sucks that I have to make a choice, but I've been in contact with Black Fag's singer Liberace Morris himself, who tells me that he won't even take the stage if he doesn't see me front and center with my camera in my hand, so, it's like, I gotta be there! LOL The Mapes will play again somewhere soon (I hope), and I will see them then, because I'm badly in need of a Mapes fix, but who knows when, or even if, Black Fag will come back to Vegas? LOL This could be the performance that permanently bans them from ever playing our city again. See ya there!
I don't see it yet but it should of happened by now. The slightly New and Improved onethirtyeight.org. I like it! The website is soooooooooo much easier to maintain / work with now, and it's a bit more personal, with the easy to work Photo Galleries and the ability to Search for stuff now, and comment on things more directly. Oh, and having a spell check now is a god send! The inspiration for the overhaul came from 'The Killaaah', aka Kathy, Punk Rock Goddess extraordinaire, when she posted something on Facebook about making a website with this thing called a Weebly, and she included a Link to whatever a Weebly was. So I'm a curious sod, and I clicked on the Link and started mucking about with it and damn, if it wasn't pretty easy to work with. Much easier than the few others I had tried working with, that's for sure! LOL After thinking about it for a second I said 'fuck it' and committed to getting everything transferred over to the new server. I've been jonesing on this project for hours straight now. I'm looking forward to getting anything and everything I can up here, and I have The Killlaaah to thank for it, so Thank You Kathy, for the nudge in the right direction, even if it was a bit inadvertent. The end result is the same - the website looks neato! Thanks Kathy! XOXO
Black Fag, Dick Falcon, 1/2 Ast and Left Unattended this Friday. The Ghost Stories & Monsters Art Show and After Party, featuring Jack Grisham And The Westcoast Dukes and Pigasus, on Saturday. All 3 events happening @ the LVCS. I might as well just sleep there all weekend. It's gonna be a good time. :-) |
