I totally forgot about that Modern English gig on Sat. Wouldn't of mattered anyways, because I lost my wallet at that Tacorama thing earlier in the day. I got there too late to register for the taco eating contest, and was disgusted that it was only 90 seconds long and not 90 minutes long as it was listed on the website's event page. I think I heard that the winner only ate 9 tacos in 90 seconds, which isn't shit. I know in my heart I could of won that damn thing, and publicly vow that next year victory will be mine!!! hahahaha
Raiders have a bye week, which means I don't give 2 shits about football. KC the only undefeated team left... who'd of thunk it?? And I haven't been commenting about it too much, but gawd DAMN are the San Jose Sharks on fire this year! hahaha 7-0-1 Hell Yeah!!! Oh Autumn, you just might be my favorite time of the year. :-) As much as I'd like to take credit for it, I'm not behind that BS with that Thee Swank Poseurs Are The Worst Band Of All Time Facebook page... LOL Click here to see what I'm talking about. I think I know who's behind it though, and 'they' apparently got the official Thee Swank Poseurs Facebook page shut down, which is funny. Petty and chickenshit, but funny. I just posted another Music Review from Colin Oscopy on a classic Freeze album he picked up recently called Live From Cape Cod 1980, and you can click here to check it out. I also posted a write up on the latest release from Druglords Of The Avenues, the side project of Johnny Peebucks from the $wingin' Utter$, called New Drugs. Click here to check it out. Everything is updated. I added the flyer for that upcoming Reagan Youth gig @ the Hideaway to the Upcoming Gigs page. With 8 bands listed as on the bill as playing, including the Vermin and War Called Home, it looks like a giant worthless clusterfuck to me. I dunno how the original guitar player and a band of scrubs calling themselves Reagan Youth is going to go over here in Vegas, but I know that I'm not gonna be there to see it... heh heh

Pictures of War Called Home taken @ the Bunkhouse a while back - click here to check them out.
Music Review by Colin Oscopy on a classic Antidote release called Live At CBGB's 1983 - click here to check that out. I'm off to win a taco eating contest... heh heh heh hahahaha Is it time for a 'Save the Bunkhouse' campaign yet? LOL
I read a rumor on Facebook that the roof to the Bunkhouse Saloon collapsed recently, which,if true, is kind of funny, when you think about it. First the Huntridge, now the Bunkhouse. I read that the roof collapsed, during the renovations being done to that place, and that the place is now structurally unsound and unable to be worked on. Apparently it's been rotting away for a while now. Do they raze it? Do they save it? Will it be given a nice white coat of paint in the meantime? Will the Hipsters who stole all of the interior stuff during that last gig that went down there now rally 'round and save the place? LOL Whatever. Just thought it was funny, that's all. Supersuckers tomorrow night @ the LVCS. Anybody going? Does anybody still give a fuck about that band? The Gig Review on the Mapes / Kid Puto / King Clone / The Seriouslys gig @ the Dive is posted up for your perusal. Click here to check it out.
Karl Bakla turned in a Music Review on the Jahbreaker - Bad Weed, Dealers Fault 7", a Reggae tribute to Jawbreaker, if you can believe that, and you can click here to check it out. The Pictures of Teenage Bottlerocket @ the Beauty Bar are posted up - check them out by clicking here. That's all for now. hahaha free time? What's that? LOL I only have a few minutes before Civilians practice, so I gotta make this short and sweet. Gosh, reading that back, it reads like a cheap sex session, or the start of some rescue note... Let's start with this, since it just came out today - a neat little write up on the Desert Rats With Baseball Bats compilation that's being released this weekend with a big 2 day celebratory shindig @ the Double Clown. Congrats to Cody from The People's Whiskey for putting it all together, and to Squid Hat Records for putting it out. Thanks to Jarret Keene for the write up too. The reason why Aluminum Falcon isn't playing the gig is because we're not a band anymore. Not a functioning one anyways. Not that I care, but it just seems a shame, because the songs were/are sooooo good. I told them that from the beginning when I first joined up with them, but whatever. Bands come and go, and this CD is an excellent snapshot of some of the better bands in our Local music scene today. Go out to the gig this weekend and Support! All the info on who's playing what date can be found on the Upcoming Gigs page. Sat. is the best night to go, IMO. It's almost an essential CD to grab because, well, let's face it, good bands are like disposable lighters - they burn with a purpose for a while, but then they run out of fuel, burn out, and are worthless. Yup.
Speaking of bands breaking up, it seems that Deadhand are not breaking up, as much as they are moving on - to San Diego, of all places. Yeah, Aaron moved there, and now it seems that Brendan and Jarrod are pulling up roots and following him there to keep the band afloat. Phooey. Well, I guess having Deadhand living a few hundred miles away at the beach versus having Deadhand dead in the desert sand is the better choice, right? Right! Congrats and Good Luck guys. I love all of your sexy mugs. XOXOXO Well, I was going to say more, including all the Drama going on around the Scene right now (is it a bad month to be Paul French or what? LOL), but my band mates are already showing up for practice - early, as usual. hahaha Gotta jet - Later! And, of course, an air horn or 2. :-) Now if that doesn't sound like a fun time, well then, I guess we just differ on our viewpoints of fun.I don't think there's anyplace else to be on a Sat. night than @ The Dive. See ya there! I spoke with Jordan from Nests who gave me the proper info on how you can donate to help out his band mate Cory with his mounting medical costs. A few hundred bucks has been raised already, but anything and everything you can give is greatly appreciated. Adrian is setting up a benefit gig for Oct. 19th somewhere, and again, when I find out more I'll let ya know. Press the button and give until it hurts. Remember when Glue Gun played @ The Dive? Me either! But back in Feb. I was there, and I took some video of them playing a song called Stand In Defiance, off of their first album, Just Glü It, which was released on Posh Boy Records, if ya can believe that. Anyways, click here to check out that video. I also posted some old photos of Unfair Fight playing @ the Bunkhouse from a few months ago, the supposed 'last show ever' there, and you can click here to check those out. Everything's updated. See you all somewhere I guess... |
